Respect and dignity are two values that we promote for people who have a disability, however we also have to remember why? its a value that should be afforded to all people no matter who they are; their ability, culture, religion, gender preferance etc.... Yes I have seen this behaviour as well in both my wor in the disability sector and personally. You made the point beutifully to the manager of the service (who should know better) I do hope they learnt a very valuable lesson from you both.
As my partner who has a profound hearing loss says, its always good to say '******' with a with a smile on your face,it has more impact. :)

i would have placed in a complaint against this person, a Manager is only as good as the staff undernieth them and if she was to treat her staff like that then clearly she has limited respect for her staff let alone the clients that attend her service delivery within her organisation. this is a tough dedicated field to work in and all levvels of employment should be able to work in harmony for the best of the client.
